VCE (General & Methods) Classroom Companion Program
In the traditional classroom... teenagers... your teenager... often get left behind due to time constraints for them and the teacher.
Being left behind is an absolute confidence killer and it has a snowball effect on their results.

Hi, I am Paula McKenzie, founder of Math Class Confidence.

I have been a teacher and tutor for over 30 years. My formal math journey started the same as all of us, in primary school.
It shocks anyone I have taught or tutored to find out that I was not always top of the class in maths. I was an average student and I had all the confidence struggles that come with that. I worked through these struggles with help and came out the other side with confidence and a passion for passing on my math knowledge.
Did this lead to me being top of the class?
Sure.
Was that the part that spurred me on?
Not at all, it was the feeling of being empowered.
So, from this, the obvious next step was to become a teacher, which I loved, but it did have its limitations.
My true passion was sparked when I started tutoring and this was where the lightbulb was lit in regards to confidence being one of the main elements of math success. Redoing and repeating their math classwork, helped students feel that confidence. I could see how empowered students became.
It’s not rocket science, it’s not a complicated formula. To gain confidence in math, your teenager needs repetition. They need to see and do the work more than once to truly understand it and traditional classrooms simply do not have the time or resources to offer this.
